Sheng & Joanna

I had the great pleasure of taking engagement photos for Sheng and Joanna when I was home for winter break! Initially, we had planned to take pictures at Mt. Tamalpais in San Francisco, but because of time constraint, we opted to take pictures at the Almaden Quicksilver County Park. Sheng was just flying back from Hong Kong that day, and I was flying from Geneva, Switzerland after my flight had been cancelled the day prior due to fog. Feeling extra adventurous, we were on the road to chase the sun at roughly 5pm. Being jet-lagged, freshly-showered, and a little anxious due to time constraint didn't stop us from being extremely thankful for God's provisions of the occasion and each other. We calmed our hearts to pray once we were at the park to express our ultimate reliance on God in any situation.

In the end, we gladly accepted the location change because California's unexpected rainy marathon really did this location justice! The sun gently spilled over the hill from some angles, producing a soft, glowy effect, while other angles provided backgrounds of shaded greenery that contrasted perfectly with their outfits. We worked calmly and efficiently as the sun fell and the air grew cooler. I highly recommend looking up poses on Pinterest before an engagement shoot, whether you're the couple or the photographer; we had planned everything out beforehand, so there was perfect communication between Sheng, Joanna, and myself. I also learned that props are also really important for changing things up! Joanna brought a really cute blanket, which added an element of warmth to the photos as well as myself when I borrowed it afterwards. Ultimately, the greatest part of the shoot, experiencing God's love through being in the presence of this couple, could not have been captured in fullness by my photos. I am humbled to know such inspiring people who were willing to work so patiently with me. I am so happy for them and excited to see what great things they will do for Him and each other!
