FashionByAlly

I have been watching @fashionbyally on YouTube for years. Ally films creative clothing DIY and life hacks videos, and her hard work really shows through. She's been growing so quickly recently; when I took photos for her, she was about to hit 300k subscribers, and now she's hitting 470k! Of course, it's not always about the numbers, but I'm so happy for her growth, and so happy that she gave me this opportunity to take photos for her Instagram.

We started our shoot at Home Cafe in the Sunset District where we met the nicest owner Annie. She was so hospitable as she briefed us on her journey as the owner of a popular SF cafe. She told us that at one point, she thought they would have to close, but now the cafe is doing so well that she's opening another cafe in the Richmond District! What makes Home so unique is their rainbow latte art (pictured below) and the truly homey environment, concocted by the nicest baristas!

Ally brought three outfits for us to document, so we headed Sea Cliff. Not only were the houses enormous, but also there was a great view of the Golden Gate Bridge from most of the houses' backyards. We took advantage of the front porches of these houses, which were all uniquely designed; they were completely unlike the cookie-cutter houses of suburbia that I was used to. My favorite of Ally's outfits to photograph was the red lace dress with sleeves. We found an all-white front-porch to let the dress stand out even more! Later, we walked to Baker Beach, just in time for golden hour. The trademarked frigidness of San Francisco began settling in, but we were determined to finish the photoshoot strong. The wet sand on the beach created the coolest reflection effect, and Ally's light pink dress was complemented by the soft colors of the sunset. It was surely an adventurous day; I got to see a lot of San Francisco that I don't normally venture into. Always take the chance to explore; you never know what cool environments you'll find!
